You should not have a favorite weapon. Craft multiple light sabers and practice with them all. To become over-familiar with one weapon is as much a fault as not knowing it sufficiently well.
You should not copy the saber designs of others, but use weapons which you can handle properly. You may customize your saber, but keep in mind that the saber you practice endlessly with may not be the one in your hand when you must ignite in the name of the Force.
On your journey to becoming a Jedi it may be wise to avoid likes and dislikes. The universe will provide what you need.
