In reading the Star Wars novels, besides being intrigued by the storyline, the reader notices the development of every character and situation. Even if a being has a small role in one novel, his or her character may appear again later in another, with background, and usually some crucial, inner conflict that causes them to be the way they are. Development of character is important, because it gives the being personality and emotion. The reader wants to understand why this creature acts this way, and what will be the consequences of these actions. The same must be said about all Jedi apprentices.
Develop your character. Those of you using names from the Star Wars universe, your development should not be that difficult, but it may require some research. You chose your handle/name for a reason. It is obvious that when you saw the Trilogy, or read this particular novel, that this being intrigued you. The question is why? It would be safe to say that you either idolized this being, or identified with it. The more powerful Jedi, experience both. For those of you who created your own character from your imagination(the true Force), your path of development may be more difficult. You must decide where your character is from, family relations, how does it tie into the SW universe, what weapon do you use, how did you come to train as a Jedi, etc…. Leave not one stone unturned, and be creative. In choosing your weapon, the lightsaber or some facsimile of it, be very descriptive. Remember throughout history, Jedi are identified by their lightsaber. This does not always mean the color of their blade, but the design of the handle, the color of the ignition button, an enscryption, etc…. When describing your lightsaber blade, do not say that your blade is blue, green, orange, say that it is teel, forest, or lava. Be unique, not general.
Development of your character takes time, do not rush what will be your "other" life for your stay in the SW universe. You will notice when you visit the Cantina, or other Force sensitive sites, that few take the time to develop who they claim to be. Therefore they are not completely there. A Jedi uses all of his resources to eliminate conflict. Read the novels, review the trilogy, and visit the Encyclopedia to aid you in your development. The Force will guide your path.
T.F.W.B.W.Y…always.
