Here at Just Jedi. Rank isn’t important. Nor is it really celebrated in any way. We don’t go out of our way to monitor you, hold your hand, or razz you up and down to get your assignments in order to prove your worth.
However. It is quite a novelty among the Jedi Community and at various groups. So it’s important to be mindful of them.
While it is true that we don’t bother to school anyone here on Ranks. We do at least provide a guidance system that you're free to follow. There are even certificates you can print off should you desire….mainly because, why not? It’s fun.
“Fun” aside. We do hope that some of you do take it serious enough to put it to good use. Should you do so….our system should give you a pretty reasonable introduction into the Jedi Community and it’s overall meaning. It’s not as easy as it sounds. Alot of it requires time...which means both patience and self motivation. Time to sit and review rather than rush through it..
A great example would be our Initiates segment. Anyone with time to kill could probably finish it all in one day and leap on into Apprenticeship just like that. Especially if you’ve already got someone to guide you all lined up and raring to go. However - We encourage a three month waiting period. Or, a year, or maybe even two...depending on the rank. These waiting periods should be valuable time frames in which you are able to research on your own. Practice, practice and reflect on what you learn. Should one be motivated enough...your journal will be looking pretty full by the end of everything. Full of valuable insights that you will be able to look back a year….five...and see what has changed since your curious Jedi days.
Member: Being a member is really quite simple. If you take interest in Just Jedi and the work presented here and regularly comment and engage with us. Then I'd say that’s a pretty legit reason to call yourself a member. We don’t have any other specifications for it. It’s important to note that some Jedi Groups will count this as a legit sort of rank. It’s a sign of commitment to register as a Member through the registration of a form or completing a set of tasks. Otherwise you're just a guest who comes and goes. Temple of the Jedi Order, is an example in which “Member” is an assigned rank. Here at Just Jedi, we don’t bother with any of that. All of you are our members...or your not. That’s up to you.
Initiate: Traditionally this is the first rank. It’s pretty common no matter where you go in the Jedi Community. It’s also Star War’s based so it’s favored for all new and aspiring Jedi looking to learn more. And just like the name states...It’s sort of your initiation into our ideals. A chance to really learn the basics
Here at Just Jedi. Our “Basic Course” is what’s presented for Initiates to look through and engage in. Journal Entry questions are provided and detailed answers are requested (About three paragraphs if able)
After the course work is complete it’s advised that a student spend at least three months evaluating what they learned and expanding their journal as they go. It is also suggested that during these three months you engage with the group. Ask questions. Start up conversations and actively take part in the Jedi Community.
Apprentice: Apprentice is another universally common rank among the Jedi Community. Just about all of the Jedi Groups, Temples and Institutes apply this in their ranking system. And we do as well. A series of lessons are provided which all have Journal Entry prompts for you to engage in. These lessons cover: [Keystone Studies] - [Force & Meditation] - [Communication] and [Physical Force]
A completion of all the subjects is suggested. As well as a year of self study period. Researching what you learned. Expanding your journal and engaging in the Jedi Community through discussions and topics.
Quick Note: Not all lesson series are completed and ready for use. A work in progress.
Journeyman: Is pretty exclusive to Just Jedi alone. I’ve not really seen it used anywhere else and it is also our highest. We don’t suggest any other levels after this because what you make of yourself, your efforts and your goals is up to you in the end.
Journeyman has two suggested levels
Level One - Join another Jedi group, temple, institute, or place of study that offers a ranking program. Complete their apprenticeship level. Continue to add to your journal the studies, lessons and lectures they require.
Level Two - Complete a Memoir. Start back from the very beginning. Review each of your journal entries and assemble together your own Memoir. Preserve the old and add in new thoughts. Organize and string it together in a manner fit for others to read and learn from. Consider, it may be your own apprentice that will read it one day. Or one of your own children, or grandkids.
Knight: While it is not a suggested level here at Just Jedi. It is a highly celebrated rank among the Jedi Community. It is a goal that many strive for and it has a lot of various expectations. It will be different depending on the group you join.
Some view it as a Job. In other words...if you don’t exclusively represent, teach and lead in some manner at the group you earned the rank from….then you won’t get the rank. If you worked there for a while and then decided to step down...the rank will be stripped.
Some view it as an achievement. A title that you earn after you complete your initiates training and complete some sort of trial. This rank is yours to keep. However, it is not transferable. In other words….a Knight rank earned in one group….won’t be acknowledged in another.
Journal Entry: How do you feel about ranks? Write some positive thoughts and also some negative thoughts on the matter.
