Lesson 2: Alert Mind, Ready Body.
In indirect contrast to Lesson 1, Lesson 2 focuses on making yourself alert and ready. Unfortunately there are times when you need to be this way, so this is the SECOND most important lesson you can learn.
Step 1: Remain still. Even though you want to achieve alertness and quickness of thought, you're still reaching to the NATURAL flow of the Force.
Step 2: Breathe in hard over TWO seconds. The flow of Force into your body should be greatly increased, as should the air intake. Thus you are energizing your muscles AND your Force Well at a greatly increased speed. DON'T do this too often, it can be dangerous.
Step 3: Breathe out hard over ONE second. Again, you are trying to expel any impurities from yourself. BUT, instead of getting rid of ALL emotion, concentrate on ridding those emotions you don't NEED in that situation. For example, you're just about to fight so you won't need love and warmth, but then again you don't want complete anger and aggression. Work out how best to control your emotions.
Step 4: Continue until you are "charged" and you've achieved the right frame of mind for the situation.
Step 5: Depending on what you're going to do, this step may or may not exist. If you're going to fight, you may stop at Step 4. If you need to be alert and yet passively sense what's going on around you, you need to establish your "Sphere of Influence", and then go on.
Step 6: Your "Sphere" gives you a general view of what's around you, but you may need a more specific view without resorting to more direct (and feelable {sp?}) Force Sensing. All you need to do, is PUSH in a specific direction with your mind. I recommend going to the four compass points first, then diversifying. This cuts time, to start with.

ALERT AND READY PERSON.
Basic passive sensing.
Quickly achieved combat readiness.
First step to more advanced techniques like Force Absorb and ANY Dark Side techniques (sorry, but it is).
