“The Force” Is a highly theological term. Every Jedi, Group, Temple and Church will have varying methodologies in teaching, defining and explaining what “The Force” actually is. But regardless of the different viewpoints. It is commonly agreed and accepted that the wise old fictional Obi Wan said it best.
“......is an energy field, created by all living things.
It surrounds us, it penetrates us, it binds the galaxy together.”
It is these fictional quotes that inspired people like you and me to pursue the Jedi Lifestyle in real life, and such quotes still move us even today.
But what the fictional movies, books and games don’t tell us - Is that the idea of a personal, living and universal energy is actually a common spiritual practice in many of today’s own old and new age faiths and are what inspired George Lucas when he created Star Wars.
As such, many members in the Jedi Community have been attempting to define, teach and practice “The Force” for many years in their own way. Some are developed closely to our fictional references...while others tend to draw from historical references of many religions and philosophies.
Just Jedi also takes its own stab at setting down a baseline concept that draws from the common trends of the Jedi Community and it’s memberships. After years of watching, listening and conversing with members from all walks of life this is what we developed in order to help guide our own members towards their own self discoveries.
“The Force is energy.
By its very nature it permeates all of existence; encompassing the living interpretation of self as well as the universal connection of all things.”
Break Down
When we study the definition above, we can find a few key words (Energy, Permeate, Living & Universal) that we will now break down - starting first with:
Energy: Scientifically speaking, energy can be defined as vibration. In other words, energy is motion. When a thing is not at rest.
There is also “Spiritual Energy” Which most modern spiritualists commonly refer to when discussing that unexplained ‘power’ outside of self understanding and/or reasoning. This source of unknown ‘power’ has taken many names throughout the ages and world wide cultures. Prana, Ki, Chi, Qi all meaning “Life Force”
Living: J.Jedi believes that both the scientific view and the spiritual view for energy are of similar mind. Afterall, a thing that lives is in a state of consistent vibration - even at a time of rest when the body is deep asleep it continues to vibrate and move with constant energy.
Life. Includes an infinite number of possibilities and is not just limited to sentient beings.
Self/Personal: One single life naturally creates its own source of consistent living energy. No matter how large or small it vibrates at its own unique level that allows one to behave in it’s own natural way. For a human like you and I it gives us the opportunity to breathe, think, eat, move about and interact with others.
J.Jedi also believes that it allows us to reach inwards and interact with all components within ourselves to create adjustments and changes related to our personal health.
Universal: Mother Earth is made up of billions of “Singular selves.” It is home to not only you, but your significant other, family, neighbors, co-workers and friends. It is made up of enemies and allies yet met. It encompasses animals great and small, plant life and tiny bugs crawling under foot. It is even found in microscopic beings that we cannot even see with our own human eyes. This world is vast and beautiful!!!
Permeate: Everything is connected. Energy (The Force), Life, Self and Universal. One is the other, constantly flowing and interacting without need for rest.
It is the desire of all human beings to further understand and submerge themselves with this energy. As Jedi, we seek to do so with a positive growth towards each of these aspects.
It is readily agreed community wide that “The Force” is vital to the making of a Jedi. And there are many methods and ways developed in practicing our own connection with this “Energy” Together, we will discover a few as we pick through J.Jedi’s Force & Meditation series.
Journal Entry: Take a moment to write what the force is to you. Break it down and identify key points of your definition.
