Strength in the Force
A Jedi's greatest asset is the Force. As a Jedi strengthens in the Force, he begins to abandon his constant reliance on his mind and flesh, and instead stretches out with his feelings, turning his attention to the Force. Great Jedi Masters such as Yoda and Obi-Wan were able to sense things 10 feet away or 1,000 light years away.
"I've felt a great disturbance in the Force... as if a million voices cried out…and were suddenly silenced" -Obi Wan Kenobi
They obtained their knowledge not from just themselves, but the energy of life itself. The Force controls your actions, but it also obeys you commands, and as you become more adept in the ways of the Force, you will strike a balance with it. The source of strength for the Jedi also comes from his knowledge and wisdom. Anakin had 20,000 Midi-Chlorians... higher than even Master Yoda himself, yet did this make him a better Jedi than our little green alien friend? I beg to differ!
"Remember... a Jedi's strength *flows* from the Force" -Kenobi
Dark Jedi, however, manipulators of the Force for their own gains, seek only to control others. They believe the order of the universe belongs to them, and care nothing for the natural order of it. Dark Jedi have no balance with the Force, because the dark side controls them... they are slaves to it. Don't be quick to think that Dark Jedi are not clever and shrewd, however... the Emperor was a master manipulator, bending Luke's will until he was almost a lightsaber swing from turning to the Dark side. The Dark side will surely rise like a tide to test your Knighthood, keep your thoughts on the Force, mind what you have learned, and remember, you are never alone.
"The Force is my ally..." - Yoda
"Yoda will always be with you" - Kenobi
